Health Insurance

Health Insurance is one of the types of coverage that helps protect our pocket books from potentially devastating medical bills. There are employer based plans and individual plans that you can purchase directly from insurance companies through agents or brokers. Plan benefits vary from plans with very low deductibles and doctor visit co-pays to plans that only pay the bills after something truly catastrophic happens to you or one of you family members. We can assist with questions over the phone, email or we do in-person visits at our offices in American Fork and sometimes we still do visits in your home or place of business. We prefer meeting face to face so we can get to know you to make better recommendations.

Individual health insurance plans are easy to apply for and it's easy to get price estimates. The companies will take the applicants health history into account when the make an offer for coverage. Adults can be declined coverage but children under 18 can no longer be denied coverage based on health history. There are big differences between the companies that offer individual health insurance in Utah. Some of the companies are very strict with health history requirements and others are more lenient. Prices also vary greatly. For more info on Individual health insurance and the ability to get a personal quote Click Here.

Employer based coverage is generally more expensive than individual coverage but the employees don't need to qualify for the coverage based on their individual health history. When a small employer applies for coverage, the insurance companies take the overall health of its employees into account to determine what the rates will be. The employer pay a portion of the payments and rates are based on the age of the employee. Large employers often don't go through this process and rates are the same regardless of an employee's age. Dental Insurance is more of a health benefit plan than a plan that protects from large bills. Plans can be expensive and Individual dental plans don't offer coverage for orthodontics. Employer plans are generally better plans for the cost. There are a few dental plans that we recommend for individuals. They provide great coverage for preventive visits and aren't overly expensive. There are also supplemental plans that cover other items from Accidental injuries to hospital stays or critical illnesses. We recommend supplementing higher deductible plans with accidental expense insurance at the very least.
